Good News Garage - Providing free cars to the needy in the New England area (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Islsand, and Vermont).  A Program of Lutheran Social Services - Don't need your car or it needs too many repairs?  Donate it for a tax deduction, and they repair it so a family in need can get to work, school, doctors' appointments, grocery stores, etc.

GoodWheels Program from Goodwill of Northern New England - (Called Wheels for Work in other states so check with your local Goodwill).  Limited transportation resources is one of the barriers that many people have in getting to work. Goodwill works with the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services’ ASPIRE program to help individuals find and keep reliable transportation. The program offers low interest auto loans for working TANF recipients in Maine. Participants referred to the program can borrow up to $5,000 (at 5% interest) to purchase a reliable used car.
